Danny, The Champion Of The World
1975
Nine-year-old Danny helps his dad, William, escape from a pit-trap on local magnate Mr Hazell’s estate, where William had been stealing pheasants.
Realising that the annual pheasant-shooting party for the wealthy is coming up, father and son hatch a plan to drug the birds and take them off of the estate to cause embarrassment to nasty Hazell.
Jeremy Irons starred in a made-for-TV film version in 1989 with Robbie Coltrane, a wonderfully awful Hazell.
