O’Brien hits Elgin with double strike

ARBROATH took the lead after 30 minutes, Josh Skelly clipping the ball over the advancing Chris Smith.

The Binos were level shortly after when Jassem Sukar deflected Darren Smith’s shot beyond Robbie Mutch.

Albion took the lead nine minutes after the restart, Blair Henderson breaking clear to shoot low beyond Mutch.

It was all square soon after when Bobby Linn guided home a Skelly cross to the far post.

Linn then fired the Lichties into the lead from the penalty spot after Skelly was tripped in the box.

Ferns then scuffed the ball home from close range to level yet again as play swung from end to end.

Incredibly, within two minutes, Linn completed his hat-trick to fire Arbroath into the lead for a third time.

Omar Kader made if five in the 78th minute.

CLYDE 5 COWDENBEAT­H 3

CLYDE went ahead when full-back Chris Smith, who headed home from close range.

The visitors were back on level terms on 30 minutes when Dean Brett scored from the penalty spot after a foul on Gary Glen in the area by Ewan McNeil.

The home support didn’t have long to wait until their side were back in front as a Sean Higgins’ rebound found the net after 33 minutes. But Cowdenbeat­h equalised for a second time when Brian Ross hit home a 30-yarder.

The Bully Wee restored their lead before the break when a long throw caused chaos in the box and Craig Sives turned the ball into his own net.

Barry Ferguson’s boys scored No 4 on the restart when Higgins scored again.

And the hosts made the points safe in the 73rd minute when Easton again crossed for Smith, who poked the ball home from six yards.

The Blue Brazil scored a third courtesy of David Gormley’s own goal.

MONTROSE 2 ANNAN ATH 2

ANNAN rocked Montrose by scoring in the second minute as Darren Ramsay hitinalowd­rivefrom18­yards.

It was 2-0 five minutes later as Ramsay sent in a corner and Max Wright scored with a deft flick.

Montrose attacked at the start of the second half and got a goal back in 54 minutes. An Iain Campbell free-kick came off the head of a defender and trialist Calum MacDonald headed home.

The scores were level in 63 minutes when Gary Fraser nodded in.

EDINBURGH CITY 1 BERWICK 2

THE first half saw Jordyn Sheeryn’s shot from 12 yards and a long-range effort from Ian McFarland for City being the only events of note.

The hosts took a deserved lead in the 65th minute when Ousman See acrobatica­lly finished with an overhead-kick.

The visitors were soon level, Jordyn Sheeryn converting from the spot after Steven Notman was felled by Dean Cummings.

Five minutes later, Sheeryn scored the winner when he chipped Antell from 20 yards.
