Celtic Park can scare the life out of the big boys

-

THE Champions’ League draw could have been kinder to Celtic.

In fact, it could hardly have been any tougher.

But as formidable as Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Mönchengladbach are, none of them will relish a trip to Celtic Park.

Over the years, the Bhoys’ home ground has been a graveyard for top European clubs.

I remember going to European nights as a boy, getting a lift over the turnstiles, and being stunned by the whole scene.

The sights, the crowds, the energy – the noise. Thinking about it even now makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck.

Make no mistake, that magic is still there.

Against the top players, it shouldn’t make a difference – but it does.

For all Celtic lack in comparison to their megabucks Champions’ League group mates, they have something none of them can boast – an absolutely terrifying ground.

Lionel Messi (left) has called the atmosphere at Celtic Park the best in Europe.

And let’s be honest, come competition time, Brendan Rodgers and his players are going to need it to be.
