No Parton of the ways for me and my pal Dolly

-

DOLLY PARTON must be as sick of the sight of me as the viewers of Good Morning Britain!

I’ve had a big sit-down interview with the wonderful Dolly three times in the past few years and I’m beginning to run out of questions.

It’s no wonder I’ve been to see her – Dolly is enjoying something of a comeback. A Doll-aissance, you might say.

And it’s never a chore going to speak to her, she’s just a really lovely woman.

I went to see her in St Louis, on the banks of the Mississippi ahead of the launch of her new album, Pure And Simple, which is outnow.

There are plenty of jokes about Dolly having plastic surgery and she tells most of them!

I asked about I’m 16, a really sweet song on her new album.

“It’s about people being in love when they’re old and that love makes them rejuvenated,” she said.

“There’s nothing we can do about what age we are, but we can do something about the attitude we have.

“I’m a self-made woman, and I’ve got the doctor’s bills to prove it . . .”

Brilliant! Dolly’s new album really is a delight, and the songs are just HER.

“People relate to my background, I come from humble beginnings,” she explained.

“I’ve never tried to be anything different, I’m proud of my background. I’m proud of my family and my religion.” Quite right, Dolly! From one superstar to plenty of others. It’s the MTV Video Music Awards tonight.

It’s set to be the Battle of the Divas, between Beyonce, up for 11 awards, and Adele, up for eight.

Let’s not forget Calvin Harris’s four nominations too.

There’s normally always a controversial moment at these dos.

Remember when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in 2009?

And in 2013, it was supposed to be all about Robin Thicke and his hit song Blurred Lines. But that one is now remembered for Miley Cyrus twerking, grinding and making sure we never looked at a foam finger the same way again.

And remember 2003 when Madonna kissed Britney Spears with Christian Aguilera looking on?

My favourite of all was 2010. That was when Lady Gaga wore a meat dress.

She walked past me and, trust me, it was pure mince!
