The Broons... in their sandy best

I HAD to smile at the August cartoon in this year’s Broons calendar.

The family are seen at the beach. The young ones are suitably attired, but Maw is modestly covered wearing a dress and Paw is wearing his suit with bunnet and boots. He has his back to us but I have no doubt he will be wearing a tie.

As an octogenerian, this takes me back to visiting the beach as a laddie where you saw men and women sitting in deck chairs wearing their Sunday best.
