Don’tbeadummy–geta decent NFL nickname
The main difference is that kayaks have seats in the bottom of them, canoes have a place to kneel inside them.
Although outwardly the boats used to look very different, It’s quite common nowadays for canoes to look like kayaks and vice versa.
However, there is a big difference in the paddles used – kayak paddles have two blades, canoe paddles only one, with a handle at one end. I SEE there is a bit of a furore in the US because an American footballer, Colin Kaepernick, refused to stand during the national anthem.
He said it was because he “couldn’t show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people”.
He is known as Kaeptain America, a play on his name.
Do any other NFL players have interesting nicknames? – E. They certainly do! Among my favourites are William Perry of the Chicago Bears, who weighed almost 24 stone. He was known as “The Refrigerator” as it was said he could eat the contents of one!
But three-time Super Bowl winner, Nate Newton, earned the name “The Kitchen” because he could eat more than The Refrigerator.
Former wide receiver Andre Rison was nicknamed “Bad Moon Rison” after a Creedence Clearwater Revival song.
As Green Bay’s defensive end, Reggie White, was an ordained minister, he earned the moniker “The Minister Of Defence”.
Another wide receiver, Fred Mitchell, was known as “FredEx” supposedly because “he always delivered”.
Running back Alfred Morris of the Dallas Cowboys is called “The Butler” after Alfred, Batman’s butler.
But not all nicknames are worth having. DeAndre Hopkins, of the Houston Texans, is known as “Nuk”.
The name was given to him by his mother when he was a child – it was the brand name of his baby’s dummy.
