No words were needed

Dear June

I LOST my mum and best friend three months ago, and I’m finding life difficult.

The day before she passed I lay beside her and took her hand.

She became agitated that night and was given morphine, so I knew it wouldn’t be long.

I wanted to say so much, but she was gone the next morning. Lindsay, via email.

June Says

You will find life difficult for a while as the loss of a mum is one of the hardest to bear.

A mother is such a constant in our lives and the unconditional love we receive from her will never be matched.

The feelings of love you felt towards one another during the last hours of her life would’ve outweighed any words.

I get the strong impression of a mutual unspoken understanding between you that only those who had a loving mother and daughter relationship understand.

She knew she didn’t have long and, although she didn’t want to leave you, she knew you would be all right.

She will now be reunited with your dad and family gone before.

I sense your dad’s passing was unexpected and that family closure was not fully obtained.

I am aware of a child in spirit who has also been reunited with family.

Although your mum no longer has a physical body, the bond of love between a mother and her daughter can never be broken.

You tell her daily that you love her and she replies each time with: “I love you, too.”
