Oops! Britney wants to dance on Strictly DJ Melvin Odoom reveals singer’s plan

BRITNEY SPEARS could become a Strictly Come Dancing sensation.

The Baby One More Time star revealed her dance floor dream to TV presenter Melvin Odoom.

And the Kiss DJ has also been getting tips from another American superstar, pal Lady Gaga.

“I asked Britney when we had her on our radio show this week and she said she’d be up for it if Strictly asked,” Melvin, 36, told The Sunday Post.

“I don’t know how she’d do, but she has loads of great experience and she’s been in the business for ages.

“I’ve known Gaga for a few years and she told me to make sure my phone was switched off in rehearsals, to clear my head of anything but the show, and just really focus.

“Gaga sent me flowers. I hope she’ll be watching me.”

Britney would be following US star Anastacia, who’s dancing this year.

But Melvin, paired with pro dancer Janette Manrara, 32, has also been getting backing a lot closer to home.

“I’ve been so tired after rehearsals that my mum has been coming over and leaving me meals in Tupperware containers in my fridge,” he said.

“I’ve always been a mummy’s boy. She’s an amazing woman who has taught me so much and she’s always proud of me. “She came to the launch show and when Tess Daly referred to her a few times she was saying I’d made her famous.”

Melvin had been burning the midnight oil ahead of last night’s tango to Moving On Up by M People.

Janette set him “homework” to go over in the form of videos of that day’s training room routines. And he wore headphones to bed, going over the musical cues.

All 15 celebrities danced on last night’s two-hour marathon.

Melvin has been desperate to do the show since he saw what a great time mates Mark Wright and finalist Simon Webbe had a couple of years’ back.

And he insists he hasn’t even thought about being booted out during tonight’s first results show.

Former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, who followed up last week’s waltz with a Charleston to Alma Coogan’s The Banjo’s Back In Town, was the bookies’ hot tip for the axe.

But pro Janette said: “I danced with him in the group dance and he’s not terrible.

“I’ve had a few chats with him and he really wants to learn to dance and do something different to what he normally does.”
