The battle of the top two ended with EAST STIRLINGSH­IRE taking the spoils, beating champions EAST KILBRIDE 3-2. Kilby rested several players ahead of their Division 2 play-off next week against Buckie Thistle, who were crowned champions of the Highland League. Shire went ahead in the 23rd minute when Martin McBride curled a 25-yarder into the net but the lead lasted only six minutes before David Grant levelled. On the hour mark, Jamie Glasgow put them 2-1 ahead. Russell McLean levelled once more but, with three minutes left, Shire claimed the points when Dean Shaw converted a penalty.

DALBEATTIE STAR completed the double over SPARTANS with a 2-1 win. Star had to fight back after Ross Allum slammed home for Spartans in the 21st minute. Three minutes before the interval, Star levelled when Lewis Sloan fired in a free-kick. Eight minutes after the turn, Tommy Muir slotted home from close in.

STIRLING UNI handed out a 7-2 thrashing of HAWICK ROYAL ALBERT. It was a second-half onslaught which sunk The Albert after the Scholars led at the break with an early Paul McCafferty goal. Josh Morris levelled on 50 minutes but, after that, it was all Stirling with Lewis Hunter, Lewis Bonar (2), McCafferty, Andrew Gillen and Rory McEwan crashing in six, with Morris getting a second late on.

CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS ended their first season in the Lowland with a 3-1 win over SELKIRK, who led after 59 minutes with a Ricky Miller goal. Strollers hit three in an 11-minutes spell from Stephen Froud (2) and Jack Downie.

GRETNA 2008 recorded a 3-0 win over VALE OF LEITHEN, Ellis Pearson and Owen Moxon (2) netting.

EDINBURGH UNI had 4-0 win over PRESTON ATHLETIC. Bertie Collins, Jack Guthrie and Bruce Scott (2) hit the goals.

Hosts CUMBERNAUL­D COLTS drew 1-1 with GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS. Stuart Noble put the Fairies ahead in 42 minutes and Jonathan Black levelled soon after.

Gary Redpath put BSC GLASGOW on their way to a 3-0 win over WHITEHALL WELFARE when he opened in 51 minutes. Blair Lyons gand Aiden Ferris got the others.
