Scots road is among world’s best
SCOTLAND’S answer to Route 66 has been named one of the best road trips in the world.
Top travel magazine Wanderlust said the North Coast 500 – or NC500 as it is known – was a scenic gem.
It finished 11th on the guide’s selection of the best 16 one-week road trips in the world.
“Launched a couple of years ago, this 500-mile road is a wild leap from Inverness into the northern reaches of Scotland via coastal roads, artisan distilleries, windswept castles and lonely lochs,” said Wanderlust.
Top of the guide’s list was the Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Byway in the USA followed by Cape Tribulation in Australia and Mae Hong Son Loop in Thailand.
