10 things to do in Tamariu

-

A SHORE THING

If you like diving, then you’re in for a treat swimming around the bays. Explore off-shore in Stollis Divebase’s boat Gabriela (stollisdivebase.eu).

ROCK WALK

You can walk for miles around this rugged little coastline. You do feel like you’re on top of the world. It’s a little piece of heaven.

TAKE THE PLUNGE

There’s a diving board that juts out from the rock on the right-hand side of the horseshoe-shaped bay.

TO THE LIGHTHOUSE

Visit the Lighthouse of San Sebastian and enjoy dining out there. It’s in Llafranc, a 10-minute drive from Tamariu.

SUN, SEA AND SAND

Playa Fonda is a lovely spot in the village of Begur. It’s worth a visit if you’re looking for a less busy beach than Tamariu’s.

STEP BACK IN TIME

Castell de Begur is a beautiful little medieval castle – a wee bit of a hike (a 10-minute drive from Tamariu) to get there, but worth it for the views.

MAKING A SPLASH

If you’d like to get out on to the water you can hire a kayak. Single and tandem models are available. Visit kayakingcostabrava.com/

SAIL AWAY

Hire a boat, and go and explore the little caves in the bay, or sail all the way to neighbouring Llafranc.

A SPOT OF SHOPPING

Palafrugell is the nearest town, about a 15-minute drive from Tamariu and easy to find. It’s a great place to do your weekly shop, as its supermarkets are much cheaper than the corner shops in the little village.

MEALS TO REMEMBER

Of course, Tamariu has seafood to die for. Don’t leave without a visit to La Morera (Passeig del Mar, 18, Tamariu).
