Children need more freedom

An Oxford specialist has studied parents and children around the world.

She says children’s “hard wiring” is done early on. How we bring them up as young children has huge impact on their adult lives.

We need to let our kids make mistakes. We need to stop jumping in to solve their problems. We need to stop being over protective and apply more “tough love”. It’s how we learn.

Take skateboarding. We don’t teach kids to skateboard, yet they learn by experimenting – complete with scrapes, bumps and bruises... and it’s fun.
