Welcome to Costa del Campbeltown
Campbeltown’s manmade beach returned last week after 150 tons of sand was delivered to the seafront.
The delivery follows a six-year campaign by the Dalintober Beach Group to restore the 50-year-old beach to its former glory.
Group member Jamie Mclean said the aim was to bring the beach back into a useable condition.
Campaigner Nena Mcsporran said: “I learned to swim on this beach. It had not been used for a long time, which is what gave us the push to have it resurrected.”
It is at least 16 years that sand was last added to the beach and more than three decades since it was added on a yearly basis.
Councillor Donald Kelly welcomed the community-led beach regeneration scheme.
