Could you tell me if Bruce Lansbury, who is often in the credits of Murder, She Wrote, any relation to the show’s star, Angela Lansbury? – J.

He was Angela’s younger brother and has been producer of 21 episodes of Murder, She Wrote.

Bruce worked on many classic TV sci-fi series of the ’60s and ’70s, including Mission: Impossible, Wonder Woman, The Fantastic Journey and Buck Rodgers In The 25th Century. All I can remember is the title, but didn’t there used to be a TV show called Feather And Father? – V.

The Feather And Father Gang was an American show of the mid ’70s.

It starred Stefanie Powers as Toni “Feather” Danton and Lewis Charles as her father, Lou.

Feather was a lawyer who was helped to solve crimes by her father, a former con man.

It’s not daft, at all, as all cathedrals are churches, but only some churches are cathedrals.

A cathedral is the headquarter church of a bishop – called a seat from the Latin word “cathedra”.

It is the “mother church” of a diocese, the geographical area presided over by the bishop.

As dioceses are so large, the bishop then creates parish churches throughout his diocese and ordains priests or minister to them.

The oldest cathedral in the world is thought to be the Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Armenia.

It was built in the early fourth Century, between 301 and 303 according to records, by Armenia’s patron saint Gregory the Illuminator, following the adoption of Christianity as a state religion by King Tiridates III.

It replaced a pre-existing temple, symbolising the conversion from paganism to Christianity.

Covering an area of 104,275 sq ft, and a tower 331ft high, Liverpool Cathedral, completed in 1978, is Britain’s largest.

On the world stage, the largest is St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City, which was consecrated in 1626.

Some of Europe’s most important architects contributed to its construction, including Michelangelo and Carlo Maderno.

The Basilica measures more than 226,000 sq ft and its dome rises almost 450ft into the air.

Tradition holds that it is the burial site of Saint Peter. Why is the chart of elements – which I was forced to learn in school – called the Periodic Table? There are no periods in it, are there? – B.

The Periodic Table arranges the elements by their atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties, whose structure shows periodic trends.

It is these trends – patterns that illustrate the different aspects of an element – that give the Periodic Table its name. My sister went to see Dean Friedman in Glasgow this week (I couldn’t get time off work!) but who was the female vocalist on his big hit, Lucky Stars? – J.

Lucky Stars reached No. 3 in 1978 and Friedman’s co-vocalist was Denise Marsa.

Marsa was not publicised as being the vocalist, so she was known as the “mystery voice” for some time after the single was a hit.
