LOCHEE UNITED lived up to their tag as favourites to win the East Super League title with a resounding 6-1 win over visiting WHITBURN. The Bluebells took the lead in nine minutes when ex-dundee United Garry Kenneth bulleted home a header from a corner, but against the run of play Whitburn drew level through Darren Liddel in 18 minutes. The Bluebells raced away with another four goals before the interval through a Grant Lawson double and strikes from Reece Ritchie and Scott Mccomiskie. They also dominated the second period but only had another Kenneth header to show for their efforts.

CARNOUSTIE PANMURE are also up and running with an impressive 3-0 win over THORNTON. The Gowfers were always in control and took the lead in 10 minutes through Stephen Mcphee. Sam Simpson doubled the home advantage with a second in 34 minutes and he wrapped up the points with his second of the day in 63 minutes.

Honours looked like being shared at GLENROTHES with neither the home side or DOWNFIELD able to find the net. However, the deadlock was broken with a minute to go when veteran striker Paul Blackwood netted a winner for the Spiders.

BROUGHTY ATHLETIC kicked off in style with a 2-0 win over FAULDHOUSE. Derryn Kesson gave them the lead with a great overhead-kick, then Marc Scott sealed the points with a header.

TAYPORT staged a second-half fightback to beat KENNOWAY 3-1 in a Fife derby. Dylan Muir gave Hearts the lead in 22 minutes, but Port battled back with an equaliser from Dayle Robertson in 65 minutes. A header from Steve Harris edged The Canniepair­t side ahead with 10 minutes to go and Jamie Gill added a third after Kennoway’s Nathan Doig was red-carded.

In the North League, EAST CRAIGIE were tested by BRECHIN VICS in the first half, but goals from Paul Moran and Sean Reekie in the second half saw the Shipbuilde­rs through to a 2-0 victory.

CAMBUSLANG RANGERS top the firstever Mcbookie.com West Region Premiershi­p table after a 4-0 success over visitors KIRKINTILL­OCH ROB ROY. After a goalless first half, David Green opened the scoring, with an own goal putting the hosts firmly in command before Jordan Morton and a trialist completed the scoring.

CLYDEBANK sit second after a 3-0 success at IRVINE MEADOW, where Cammy Mcclair scored in each half and Jordan Shelvey wrapped the points up late on.
