The Barber Of Seville
OPERA
Festival Theatre, Edinburgh, today, Tue-wed
As part of the Edinburgh International Festival, Rossini’s comic opera – propelled along by an array of instantly memorable tunes – comes to the Festival Theatre.
Originally seen at Paris’s Théâtre des ChampsElysées, this new production is conducted by the young French musical pioneer Jérémie Rhorer, with crisp, incisive playing from his own periodinstrument orchestra, Le Cercle de l’harmonie.
Acclaimed French baritone Guillaume Andrieux stars as a slick and scheming Figaro.
