Highlights from day one include: author Janice Galloway reading a selection of works by Muriel Spark, in what is the first in a series to celebrate Spark’s centenary year; Maryn Mckenna presents an eye-opening look at the industrialisation of chickens in her new book, Plucked, and Philip Pulman Master Storyteller sees the celebrated author reveal how he builds his fantasy worlds.

Mason Skiles (Jon Hamm) had a great life as a diplomat in Beirut.

He and his wife, Nadia, live in a beautiful house and have been mentoring a 13-year-old Palestinian boy named Karim.

The couple are hosting a party for dignitaries when a CIA friend arrives at the event, but is only interested in questioning Karim about an older brother who Mason doesn’t know about.

What happens that night changes Mason’s life forever, along with several others at the party.
