The Chalk Man
C.J Tudor, Penguin, £7.99
This is a deliciously creepy thriller which seems to nod to Stephen King – and King himself has reportedly tweeted support for Tudor’s debut novel.
The focus of the story is a man who looks back on a murder in the small town where he was a child and where a gang of boys were initiated into the dark side.
This is not a book to be read alone, late at night.
