Fatal crash after car loses control outside Trump resort

-

A woman has died after a road traffic accident near Donald Trump’s golf course in Aberdeenshire yesterday.

The crash happened north of Balmedie just after 3pm. It is believed no other vehicles were involved.

Police said a 38-year-old had died in the crash, which occurred one mile north of Balmedie at the B977.

They added that the road will remain closed while enquires are carried out and no further details will be released until next of kin have been informed.

A member of staff at Trump International said they believed a car had crashed near the entrance and had been told customers could face delays getting in.

Trump purchased the land in 2006, opened his golf course on the Menie estate in 2012 and created a golf course, a clubhouse and a small hotel at the original estate house.

Meanwhile, a teenager is in a serious condition in hospital after second crash in Aberdeenshire when his scooter was involved in a smash with a Seat Leon on the B994 Kintore to Kemnay road yesterday evening.

The young man, 19, was described as being in a “serious condition” at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The occupants of the car sustained minor injuries.

Police were called to the scene of the incident around 5.40pm yesterday.

The B994 was closed from the junction of the B933 while investigations were carried out, with motorists requested to avoid the area.
