Hart hailed as late penalty-stop hero

Jordan Hart saved a stoppageti­me penalty as Queen’s Park knocked out League 2 rivals Stirling Albion.

Queen’s Park took the lead on 25 minutes when Lewis Hawke headed home a corner.

More shoddy defending allowed the visitors to score again as halftime approached. The ball was scrambled into the net and the goal was credited to Gerry Mclauchlan, although it looked like home defender Jason Marr may have got the final touch.

Albion were back in it just after the hour when Neil Mclaughlin picked out Dom Docherty and he directed a header into the corner.

Drama ensued late on as visiting goalkeeper Hart saved a stoppage-time penalty, diving to his left to push away Jordan Allan’s spot-kick, awarded for handball.

In the opening seconds, Kelty striker Scott Dalziel went down with a neck injury that required several minutes treatment before he was replaced by Matthew Gay.

In the ninth minute, Kelty fell behind to a dreadful blunder by left-back Conrad Courts. His misplaced pass was pounced on by Russell Mclean, who placed the ball low into the left corner.

It was all square in the 21st minute when Ciaran Chalmers had a free header six yards out.

On 73 minutes, the home side’s Rory Mcallister headed in No. 2.

In the last minute, Derek Lyle notched a third, heading in from a Jamie Stevenson corner.

Straight from the kick-off, Hearts pulled back a consolatio­n from Matthew Gay.

The opening goal came after 37 minutes when Paul Willis smashed the ball home for Berwick after Daryl Healy’s effort was blocked.

In the second half, two goals in a two-minute spell killed the game. First, Cedwyn Scott extended Rangers’ lead after 50 minutes when he rolled the ball into the net from close range.

Two minutes later, it was 3-0 when Willis found the net after Scott’s initial effort was deflected.

On 86 minutes, Gretna’s Jamie Hope was at the back post to tap in from close range.

Cove took the lead after only five minutes when prolific Mitch Megginson collected a loose ball 20 yards out and fired a firm shot that bounced in front of the keeper and into his right corner.

Auchinleck began to come into the game late in the half.

They ultimately levelled from a penalty, with Graeme Wilson placing his spot-kick past John Mccafferty to set up the replay.

BEITH 4 linlithgow rose 0

The battle of the juniors saw Jamie Wilson hit the opener in the eighth minute for Beith, then John Sheridan beat the visitors defence and made it 2-0. On 51 minutes, Darren Christie fired in No. 3.

Rose went down to 10 men after this and Paul Frize piled on the agony in the 62nd minute when he netted a12-yarder.

Brora 6 Coldstream 0

John Pickles put Brora in front before Marc Nicholson flicked a header into the corner of the net to double the lead.

Craig Campbell clinched a third-round berth with a third first-half goal for the Cattachs.

Brora introduced Dale Gillespie and Kyle Macleod on the hour mark and both netted. Gillespie fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box before Macleod notched and Steve Mackay completed the rout.

The first half was dominated by the visitors, with Vale thankful to goalkeeper Errol Watson as they trotted off for their half-time cuppa.

In the second half, Lewis Bonar opened the scoring from a penalty, a rather harsh decision on the Banff side, but slotted away nonetheles­s by the University’s No. 10.

Vale responded immediatel­y when substitute Graeme Watt swung over a cross from the left and it was duly dispatched into the net by Matthew Wallace from close-range.

The visitors weren’t to be denied, though, and, when a similar chance was created at the opposite end by Rory Macewan five minutes later, full-back Dominic Slattery crashed the ball into the net at the back post.

Clyde threatened in five minutes when Barry Cuddihy’s cross set up Jack Boyle and his shot was held by Dave Mcgurn.

Cowden took the lead in nine minutes when Fraser Mullen’s free-kick curled past several Clyde defenders and David Marsh headed past Blair Currie.

Abdel Belmokhtar took a David Goodwillie lay-off and his snapshot was held by Mcgurn.

In 22 minutes, John Rankin’s angled 19-yarder was excellentl­y held by Mcgurn.

Clyde started the second half well and a Ross Lyons free-kick had to be punched clear in the sixyard box by Mcgurn.

Within seconds at the other end, Cox set up Blair Malcolm, whose 16 yarder was brilliantl­y blocked by Martin Mcniff.

Cowden stretched their lead in 83 minutes when sub Kris Renton’s cross was flicked into the net by Cox from six yards.

Within four minutes, David Goodwillie pulled one back when a Lyons cross was knocked over the line from close in.

Cumbernaul­d Colts 1 BSC glasgow 4

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, two goals in the first four minutes of the second half saw BSC through.

Declan Hughes hit the opener two minutes after the turn and Carlo Pignatiell­o doubled the score on 49 minutes.

Fraser Team set up an exciting last 25 minutes when he pulled one back for Colts in the 68th minute.

However, BSC turned on the style and Duncan Robbie fired in No. 3 with seven minutes left.

Thomas Orr made sure with a fine strike on 87 minutes
