No mountain high enough for drones

The Sunday Post (Dundee) - - NEWS -

A new flying squad will soon be helping to rescue people injured and lost in the Highlands.

Drones have been called the most significant development for mountain rescue since the introduction of search dogs and they could cut down on the expensive use of helicopters.

Search and Rescue Aerial Association Scotland (SARAAS) will use the drones to find people in the most inaccessible places and plan to expand across Scotland.

To do that, the association’s volunteers will undergo special training to fly the drones by expert instructors.

Saraas-trained operator Tom Nash said: “The drones will show us where missing people aren’t as well as where they are.”
