Actor’s gift to the arts
Acclaimed actor Sir Ian Mckellen plans to donate all the proceeds from his 80th birthday solo show at next year’s Edinburgh International Festival to local youth theatre.
Funds from his show, Ian Mckellen On Stage, which is on for four days at the Assembly Hall and features many of the characters he has played over the years, will pay for refurbishment of the drama studio at Leith Academy and support a bursary for an Edinburgh student to study in the performing arts.
