Fa cup round-up

-

Moses Emmanuel earned National League South leaders Billericay Town a first-round replay with a sweetly struck 20-yard equaliser that secured a 1-1 draw at 1997 semi-finalists Chesterfield.

The midfielder ran onto a pass by skipper Sam Deering and showed composure to keep possession, before leaving goalkeeper Callum Burton clutching at thin air in the 52nd minute.

Emmanuel’s goal cancelled out Laurence Maguire’s 17th-minute header for Chesterfield.

A piece of opportunism from Jamie Devitt booked Carlisle their place in the second-round draw with a 1-0 win at Crewe. The midfielder chased down a slack back-pass in the last minute and benefited when Crewe keeper Ben Garratt’s clearance rebounded off him and went into the net for the Cumbrians’ winner.

A ruthless first-half performance helped Blackpool to a 3-2 win at Exeter City.

Blackpool took the lead inside the first two minutes, Joe Dodoo rising highest to plant a header past keeper James Hamon.

Mark Cullen then got to the ball ahead of Hamon to bundle the ball in and double the Tangerines’ lead, before Harry Pritchard converted from close range to make it 3-0. Exeter gave it a go after halftime and pulled one back when Archie Collins was tripped by Ryan Mclaughlin.

The referee gave the penalty, which was missed by Pierce Sweeney, but Jordan Tillson reacted quickest to convert.

Tristan Abrahams then curled in a beauty from 25 yards in the last minute to make it 3-2 but, despite pressure late on, Exeter could not find an equaliser.

Elsewhere, Bury cruised into the second round as they saw off the National League’s bottom side Dover 5-0, with goals from Jay O’shea, Danny Mayor, Dominic Telford, and a double from Byron Moore.
