Verdana can seal the win out the Blue

The Greatwood Hurdle is one of the late- autumn signs that the National Hunt season is with us, but it’s always a tricky heat to solve.

This ye a r, h owe ve r, Nicky Henderson’s Verdana Blue can come to the punter’s rescue and make today a pay day.

The six- year- old has won her last two starts, at Kempton in a listed race and then at Wincanton in a Grade 2 just eight days ago.

Strictly speaking, Old Guard is the pick of the weights after losing to Verdana Blue last weekend, but this is a mare in peak form.

Seddon made a big impression on his hurdle debut at Stratford for Tom George and the Mcneill family, and he can win the novice event.

He started off with a bumper win at Musselburgh and then ran 12th in the Festival bumper in March and it was on to Stratford.

There he despatched Dan Skelton’s Not That Fuisse by four- and- and- ah a l f lengths without breaking sweat, and there should be much more to come.

At Fontwell, Alan King’s string could not be in better shape. Lisp should be ready for the Salmon Spray hurdle on his re-appearance.

The four- year- old fell early when fancied and well- backed for the Fred Winter in March, but this two- time winner has his best days ahead.
