Key to healthy life? Eat well and exercise

-

Over the years there have been so many advances in science and medicine that every week there’s some research or new product coming out to stop this, or minimise that. This time, a study has found that antibiotics could extend life.

We’re so used to taking medication when we’re sick, but how often do we ask what’s in a drug and what it is actually doing to our body? Antibiotic resistance has become a major health threat so I can’t see how this could be hailed as a solution to ageing. In fact, I’m sceptical of quick fixes in general.

I’d continue to advocate eating well and in moderation, exercising and drinking lots of water.

You can’t get away from the good-old practical, natural solutions to health.

Living longer brings its own challenges, so we should focus on quality of life rather than prolonging it at an unknown cost.
