Key to healthy life? Eat well and ex­er­cise

Over the years there have been so many ad­vances in science and medicine that ev­ery week there’s some re­search or new prod­uct com­ing out to stop this, or min­imise that. This time, a study has found that an­tibi­otics could ex­tend life.

We’re so used to tak­ing med­i­ca­tion when we’re sick, but how of­ten do we ask what’s in a drug and what it is ac­tu­ally do­ing to our body? An­tibi­otic re­sis­tance has be­come a ma­jor health threat so I can’t see how this could be hailed as a so­lu­tion to age­ing. In fact, I’m scep­ti­cal of quick fixes in gen­eral.

I’d con­tinue to ad­vo­cate eat­ing well and in mod­er­a­tion, ex­er­cis­ing and drink­ing lots of wa­ter.

You can’t get away from the good-old prac­ti­cal, nat­u­ral so­lu­tions to health.

Liv­ing longer brings its own chal­lenges, so we should fo­cus on qual­ity of life rather than pro­long­ing it at an un­known cost.
