A night full of stars and tears

-

What a great night we had last Saturday at the 20th SSE Scottish Music Awards in Glasgow.

Award winners and live performers included one from the much-loved Susan Boyle, who opened proceedings with a beautiful rendition of Wild Horses, followed by the brilliant

Amy Macdonald, Kyle Falconer, The Snuts, HYTTS, Snow Patrol and Tom Grennan who made sure the amazing night ended on a high note.

More than £100,000 was raised for Nordoff Robbins music therapy in Scotland which was absolutely fantastic.

Other gongs went to Annie Lennox, Mark Knopfler, Éclair Fifi, Gary Clark, The Script and Frightened Rabbit, and I was deeply honoured when I was presented with a quaich for my long-term services to the charity.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house… through laughing at my acceptance speech!

If the thought of Christmas is getting you down and you’re in need of a good laugh, then you could do no worse than checking out my good friend and one of Scotland’s best loved stand-ups, Fred Macaulay’s new show, In Conversation with Fred, tonight at 5.30pm, at The Gilded Balloon, Rose St Theatre, Edinburgh. Fred, below, hosts guests including brilliant comedian and Still Game actor Sanjeev Kohli and impressionist, and my crazy wee brother, Lewis Macleod. His hilarious impressions of Presidents Trump, Bush and Obama will make you think you’ve just visited the White House!
