I am retired now, I worked for Boots the Chemist for 40 years. I’d loved to have been a doctor, but I didn’t have the brains.

Carol Whitehead, Prestwich

My dream job would have been an undertaker, because you’d never get complaints from the customers!

James Strachan, Aberdeenshire

Living local to the school, I still am greeted with a smile from many former pupils I taught. I might not remember all their names but I am always pleased to hear how they have progressed. I had my dream job.

Smith, North Yorkshire

Lorna

I’m a contented retired man and, to be honest, retirement is the ideal dream job. No clock-watching and no pressures. Nothing to do, and all day to do it. What more could a person want?

Walker, Glenrothes

James

My dream job would have been working with animals. Helping them would have satisfied something in me.

Kelly, Glasgow

Liz

I think I should have been a journalist or police officer. I have a very inquiring mind and am pretty good at solving problems other folk don’t see.

O’regan, Lincoln

Elizabeth

I would have loved to have been a cabinet maker. I have always liked working with wood and when I left school at 14 I started work in a cabinet shop but it closed down.

Mclean, Harwood

Hamilton

I had a great job before I retired – reading water, gas and electric meters all over the Highlands. It was never a job that was going to make me rich but, for getting out and about and seeing Scotland, it was absolutely brilliant! I’d do it again like a shot!

Kerr, Lochaber
