Referee Oliver Langford called Accrington’s game off with Sunderland in the 75th minute with the score at 1-1 in front of a record crowd.

Over 5,000 packed into the Wham Stadium – helped by 2,604 away fans.

Sunderland took the lead after 62 minutes when a Connor Ripley goal-kick was charged down by Chris Maguire and the ball rolled into the goal. Stanley equalised seven minutes later when Connor Hall forced the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble.

As the heavens opened, the referee deemed the pitch unplayable.

Fleetwood lost 2-0 at Luton, with Harry Cornick scoring the first and Craig Morgan deflecting in Danny Hylton’s cross for the second.

Armand Gnanduillet and Nathan Delfouneso scored for Blackpool as they beat Charlton 2-1.
