CARNOUSTIE PANMURE started their Super League match against KENNOWAY, but the match referee decided after 30 minutes the game was proving farcical in the high winds and decided to abandon it.

Despite the horrendous conditions, THORNTON and BATHGATE served up an entertaining Fife and Lothians Cup tie. Both sides had chances in the first half, but, in the main, defences were on top and it ended goalless. It continued in a similar vein in the second half, but the deadlock was broken in 66 minutes when Gary Thomson smacked in what proved to be the winner to take Hibs through to the third round.

Conditions looked like proving to be the winner in a goalless first half between ARBROATH VICS and KINNOULL, but it opened up after the break, with the Perth side coming from behind to snatch the points. Kellon Lyons gave Vics the lead in 49 minutes, but the home joy only lasted a minute with Mark Smith levelling for the visitors. Then, four minutes later, Liam Woolley fired Kinnoull into the lead and, just to make sure, Smith struck again in 70 minutes to seal the points.

ROSYTH took the lead in nine minutes against NEWBURGH in a Fife derby and put the game beyond the visitors by adding another three before the break. Newburgh pulled one back in the second half, but all the damage was done in the first half.

Mcbookie.com Premiership leaders HURLFORD were beaten 5-0 by AUCHINLECK TALBOT at Blair Park. Gareth Armstrong opened the scoring on six minutes and Stephen Wilson added the second from the penalty spot two minutes later. Graham Wilson put the visitors further in front on 28 minutes and the same player made it 4-0 early in the second half. Gordon Pope wrapped things off when he grabbed Talbot’s fifth goal of the afternoon.
