LOWLAND LEAGUE

-

EAST KILBRIDE got a 3-1 win over bottom side WHITEHILL WELFARE to stay four points clear at the top. They were ahead after 30 seconds when Anton Brady fired in a low shot into the net. In the 19th minute, Kilby then broke away from a corner and Holmes drilled the ball into the net for 2-0. They were three up on 23 minutes when Sean Winter set up Paul Woods to head into the net. Although Fabio Neto pulled one back for Welfare just before the interval, there was no way back.

Stephen Swift’s BSC GLASGOW side made it five wins in a row with a crushing 6-1 win over STIRLING UNI to go second top of the league. They got a dream start when Carlo Pignatiellor was bundled over in the box and Tom Orr scored from the spot. Two minutes later, Orr doubled the score when he broke through and lobbed the ball over the advancing Stirling keeper. Orr turned provider three minutes into the second half when he beat three defenders and set up Declan Hughes, who shot home. Dominic Slattery headed one back for The Uni side in the 54th minute to make it 3-1, but, on 67 minutes, David Winters squeezed one past the Uni keeper. Four minutes later, it was 5-1 when Declan Hughes curled the ball into the net from 20 yards. Then, in the 71st minute, Martin Grehan fired in No. 6 to complete the rout.

GRETNA 2008 shook off their 6-0 thumping last week and bounced back with a 5-1 drubbing over EDUSPORT ACADEMY in the local derby match at Galabank. Gretna got a great start when Ashley Kelly hit the opener the 10th minute, and Daniel Smales got a second just before the half-hour mark. He ripped open the Edu defence in the 32nd minute to get his second goal and, a minute after the turn, he completed his hat-trick. Jordan Alexandre pulled one back for Edu on 53 minutes, but, with seven minutes left, Kevin Connolly, who had only been on the field for five minutes, hit home No. 5.

GALA FAIRYDEAN ROVERS and EDINBURGH UNI shared the points in a 1-1 draw, with the Fairies taking the lead in the eighth minute with a shot from Ruari Paton. But, two minutes before the turn, Stuart Mcnicholas equalised with the only other goal of the game.
