A Christmas Carol

THEATRE CINEMA

-

Tramway, Glasgow, until Jan 6

By popular demand, the Citizens Theatre is bringing back this five-star, sell-out production, first presented by the theatre in 2014.

Taking on the role of miserly humbug Scrooge is Glasgow-born stage veteran Benny Young.

Citizens Theatre artistic director Dominic Hill ensures a night of inventive storytelling, atmospheric set design and live music, which has all been refreshed for the performance space at the Tramway while renovation work continues at the Citizens.

Lizzie

Out now

As an unmarried woman of 32, Lizzie Borden (Chloe Sevigny) is a social outcast trapped under her austere, domineering father’s control.

When Bridget Sullivan (Kristen Stewart), a young maid desperate for work, comes to live with the family, Lizzie finds in her a kindred spirit.

The friendship between these women becomes something more, as Lizzie’s relationship with her own parents unravels at a frightening level, and the women’s intimacy blossoms into a wicked plan with a dark ending.
