-

Following the death of his beloved wife, retired balloon salesman Carl

Fredricksen (Ed Asner) refuses to leave the home they built together. When developers threaten to bulldoze the property, Carl ties thousands of brightly coloured helium balloons to the roof and takes flight, bound for Paradise Falls in South America, where he and Ellie had always planned to visit. Unexpectedly, a Junior Wilderness Explorer called Russell (Jordan Nagai) is stranded on the porch and the plucky tyke joins Carl on his big adventure. Up is another modern classic from Pixar and arguably the studio’s most adult film to date, although there is still plenty to engage children. The opening 10 minutes are among the finest Pixar have ever created, and are guaranteed to have viewers choking back tears. BBC1, 4.10pm, Friday Wreck-it Ralph (voiced by John C Reilly) is the bad guy in a game called Fix-it Felix Jr, which has stood the test of time in an arcade. However, after years of destruction, Ralph yearns to be the good guy for once. So, Ralph abandons the residents of his computerised world for a futuristic

first-person shooting game called Hero’s Duty. Ralph escapes the game and unwittingly transports an alien Cy-bug from Hero’s Duty into the neighbouring Sugar Rush racing game. Wreck-it Ralph is a computer-animated rollercoaster that leaves us unabashedly grinning from ear to ear.
