Bill-payer waits weeks for refund

-

Merle Bryce has finally received a refund from her former energy supplier after a wait of more than four months.

Merle changed her dual fuel contract from Economy Energy to Enstroga at the start of August.

When she received her final bill from Economy she discovered she was £45.69 in credit for electricity and was also due almost £90 back on her gas account.

“I phoned and emailed Economy Energy several times in August and at first I was told I had to wait six to eight weeks for the money to be refunded,” she said.

“After this time had passed, I contacted them again and this time I was informed that it would be another 28 days before I got my payment.”

By late November, Merle, from Bathgate, West Lothian, still hadn’t received any cash.

“When I phoned the company back I was told that the refund was still waiting to be processed,” she added.

“This time they said they had changed their system and this was the reason for the latest hold-up.

“At this point I had been waiting 18 weeks to receive a payment.”

At the end of her tether, Merle wrote to Raw Deal for help and we asked Economy Energy to investigate.

The good news is that it wasn’t long before she was contacted by the company advising that the money she was owed was on its way.

Merle said she was grateful to the Raw Deal team for stepping in and sorting out what had become a very frustrating issue for her over the past few months.

“I have finally got my full refund of £135,” she said. “Thanks go to Raw Deal once again.”
