Arthur’s change of tack on build-up to Aintree
Grand National hero, One For Arthur, is heading to Haydock on Saturday as his route back to Aintree takes a new turn.
Two years ago, the 10-yearold made yesterday’s Classic Chase at Warwick, his final stop before the unforgettable national triumph.
However, the recent dry spell has left the Midlands track on the lively side and connections have decided to change course.
Left-handed Haydock has long been regarded as suitable for a Grand National trial, with it’s stiff fences and long, demanding run in.
Arthur made his comeback for Milnathort trainer Lucinda Russell, back at Aintree seven weeks ago, but unseated Tom Scudamore at the third.
With the big race just 12 weeks away, the yard are praying that he comes back sound, having completed the extended three-mile journey.
