A 12-month party to mark years of friendship
Today’s milestone is just the start of a year-long celebration.
A symposium is taking place at Glasgow’s Mitchell Library in April and in May the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh will mount an exhibition of original cover art. Later that month, a special readers’ weekend at Alvaston Hall in Crewe will allow fans to meet the team behind the magazine, hear about the history and take part in activities.
The magazine’s highest-ever circulation was on September 7, 1974 when it sold 851,578 copies. The anniversary edition of The People’s Friend is on sale now.
