The Sunday Post (Dundee)

Hello, my name is Rona and I’m a tidying up addict.

So, the festive period and the subsequent fallout is a difficult time for me. The tonne of tat that’s arrived in the house over the festivities is my idea of an absolute nightmare. The overflowing bins littering my street this morning waiting to be emptied is a reminder of how much stuff we’re now chucking out after our spending sprees.

What happened to the concept of make do and mend? So, it was great to hear a consumer campaigner on the radio this week talking about the battle for a “right to repair”, which could mean our electrical appliances last longer and are easier to mend.

Rather than chucking out your old kettle have a bash at mending it. Think of the landfill we could avoid.
