The Sunday Post (Dundee)

Back to black

My daughter and

I set off with great expectations to visit the V&A museum in Dundee.

When we entered the building all I could see was an empty, vacuous space, 200ft in every direction.

The attendants were all in black, the floor was black marble, and the stairs were an intense black.

The walls were covered to the ceiling in what looked liked hundreds of coffin lids.

There was no information about Dundee, the great journalistic achievements or about the great cancer research facility in the city. In conclusion, I think anyone entering who has depression will most certainly feel worse on coming out.

Funny how we keep reading reports about “out-of-control” dogs attacking sheep and horses, despicable as that is, and complaints about dog mess but never anything about the thousands of dog attacks on people, including children, every year in the UK.

The dog legislation is completely inadequate that allows public parks to be used as dog exercise areas running freely into children’s play areas. It’s only when someone ends up in hospital or worse that it gets into the papers. All dogs should be on leads. That’s how to control them, but that is something that would lose any party that proposed it votes, so it can never happen. The party comes first.

I’m with my fourth energy provider in eight months. The first one installed smart meters. The second used the meters to provide usage and cost details, but then they collapsed.

Ofgem switched me to the third company and they used the meters to inform me how my costs had increased by 40%. I hurriedly switched to a better deal and decided to go “green” with my fourth provider.

Now the “green” company cannot access my smart meters rendering them useless.

Nine energy companies have ceased trading in the past year and there must be many thousands of customers suffering likewise.

What a shambles!
