Now council scrap free parking on Sundays? This town is coming like a ghost town

intentions of their electorate.

That’s an absolute disgrace, because they do not truthfully represent the views of their constituents on this issue.

Much of blame for this pathetic political deadlock, the erosion of faith in our democracy, lies at the sweaty feet of an odious and repellent gaggle of MPS, undemocratic elitists who firmly believe they know best and to hell with what the voters think.

Members such as Anna Soubry, Amber Rudd, Stephen Kinnock, Yvette Cooper, Gordon Marsden, Tom Watson and Lisa Nandy. For two years they have ignored the wishes of their electorate by arguing for the opposite of what the majority of their constituents voted for during the Brexit referendum.

I hope at the next General Election there are enough people still willing to vote and that every one of these members are made to pay for their crimes against democracy at the ballot box.

There can be no doubt now that Glasgow City Council has gone completely parking mad. Their announcement to scrap free street parking in the city centre on Sundays is completely bonkers.

Online shopping, business rates, lack of affordable and reliable public transport, shortage of parking spaces and the already exorbitant parking charges are bad enough.

But add in punitive bus lanes, road closures and a rise in street begging that has already decimated trade and forced frustrated motorists to shop outside the city where parking is free, and you see the decision is ridiculous.

It is an act of retail vandalism which will be the final nail in the coffin for many shops.

I’m all for cleaner air, but not empty streets where shoppers once walked, and spent, to keep the city vibrant and alive. I’ve just had a very relaxing week with my wife and friends in a lodge on the banks of the River Tay, at Scotland’s oldest inn, The Kenmore Hotel. And the weather was great, the scenery stunning, the walks knackering, the food delicious and the wine warming (and plentiful!). However, in Aberfeldy we stopped for a bite to eat at a cafe but were told that as there is now no local RBS bank they couldn’t take cash, only credit cards. The modern world as dictated by The Royal Bank of Scoundrels!
