Dons blunder is not a negative for Kamara

Glen Kamara could be forgiven if the prospect of playing Aberdeen brings him out in a cold sweat.

But the midfielder is adamant that his Scottish Cup blunder against the Dons is forgotten.

The last time the Dons were at Ibrox, Kamara gifted the ball to Niall Mcginn, allowing the Irishman to open the scoring after just three minutes of the Scottish Cup quarter-final replay.

Rangers never recovered from that early blow and lost 2-0.

The former Dundee man revealed that Steven Gerrard – himself no stranger to a high- profile slip- up – took him aside after that error.

“I spoke to him after the game, and again before the next game,” said Kamara.

“I started in that one, which was great. It is part of being at a big club.

“You don’t have any time to sulk. You just have to get on with it because it isn’t long before the next game comes.

“At a big club, expectation is high and you have to live up to that every week.

“Eve r y g a me is to u g h , a nd in everything you do on and off the field, you have to be tip-top.

“You can’t really be making mistakes. “It is one of the only low points for me at Rangers. I will look to rectify that today.”

Kamara believes there is still plenty to come from him as he settles into life at Ibrox.

There’s no doubt what he hopes to be winning next term.

He added: “Do we have to push for the title next season? Yes, 100%.

“Consistency is the one thing we can improve on. We have to get a run of games and keep it going.

“There is a lot of quality in the team already, and if we can add some more, that will be fantastic.

“The manager gives me little tips but those are for me. They are not for sharing.

“He was definitely a player that idolised.

“A fantastic player, and learn from him.”
