Three great penalty saves from SPARTANS keeper Blair Carsewell saw his side through to the quarter-finals of the Lowland League Cup.

They came in the penalty shoot-out and gave Spartans a 3-2 penalty win over KELTY HEARTS after 1-1 draw at 120 minutes.

Kelty broke the deadlock in the 101st minute, Chris Dodd heading into the net from six yards.

Sub Josh Wishart headed in the equaliser with four minutes left.

Then it was left to Carsewell to seal victory with three great saves.

BSC GLASGOW moved through with a comfortabl­e 4-0 win over WHITEHILL WELFARE.

Martin Grehan got the opener on nine minutes and Thomas Orr scored from a penalty 10 minutes later. Then Thomas Orr made sure of a win with a 34th-minute strike. On the hour mark Carlio Pignatiell­o banged in No. 4.

EDUSPORT ACADEMY got a penalty shootout win over DALBEATTIE STAR, who went ahead with a Lewis Sloan goal in the 104th minute.

But, in the last minute of extra time, Edu equalised through Jordan Alexander and then went on to win 4-2 on penalties.

STIRLING UNI beat GRETNA 2008 7-0.

Gretna ended up with nine men after Archie Gardiner and Daniel Smales were red-carded.

Lewis Hunter grabbed a hat-trick, with Blair Lyons (2), Dominic Slattery and Michael Baber also netting.

EAST STIRLINGSH­IRE got through thanks to a 4-2 penalty win after a 1-1 draw at 120 minutes with CIVIL SERVICE STROLLERS. They led from an Andy Rodgers goal in the

25th minute but Steven Froud equalised for Strollers 10 minutes later.

EDINBURGH UNI got a 1-0 win over VALE OF LEITHEN.

In the Highland League, FORT WILLIAM lost 5-1 at home to WICK ACADEMY.

Sam Mackay put the visitors ahead before Fort had Jordan Andrew and Aidan Taylor red carded after the break.

Goals by Richard Macadie, Alan Hughes and Davie Allan (2) made up the visitors’ nap hand with a Scott Hunter penalty counting for Fort.
