Cove continued their fine start to the league season with a deserved win at Forthbank to move a point clear at the top.

Paul Hartley’s side took the lead after 27 minutes when the ball was threaded through to Fraser Fyvie and the recent signing from Dundee United beat Blair Currie from close range.

Mitch Megginson missed a good chance for a second goal, but the visitors continued to dominate and scored again in 52 minutes when Blair Yule picked out Matty Smith to turn the ball into the net.

Stirling had offered little, but seemed to wake up in the closing stages and David Wilson HIT the bar from 25 yards.

Josh Peters, though, struck with six minutes left with a fine finish into the corner to end their league goal drought.

Edinburgh City found themselves a goal down in only the seventh minute when Mark Mcguigan swept an Alan Cook cross past Callum Antell.

After Graeme Smith had denied the City forwards on a number of occasions, he was eventually beaten in the 56th minute when Blair Henderson netted.

City then took the lead in the 69th minute when they took advantage of slack marking and Marc Laird scored.

The best goal came in the 78th minute when a swift counter-attack from a Stenhousemuir corner ended with Scott Shepherd tucking the ball home.

Rovers started strongly and forced Ross Sinclair into action after 60 seconds, tipping a Giuliano Morena shot over.

The hosts should have netted, but Euan East, six yards out, hit the post.

Brechin’s Ryan Mccord rattled the bar before home defender Lewis Wilson stumbled in the box, allowing Paul Mcmanus to fire home from close range.

Annan started well and Scott Mclean’s 25-yard free-kick was held by Kevin Dabrowski.

Cowden got forward, but Connor Smith was robbed by Euan Griffiths before he could get his shot away.

In 39 minutes, the hosts went ahead when Robbie Buchanan fired a low 14-yarder past Aaran Taylor.

Annan started the second period well and Nade levelled in 51 minutes when he fired a low shot wide of Dabrowski from 10 yards out.

The home side went ahead again. Fraser Mullen’s corner was knocked on to Connor Smith by Renton and he hooked the ball past Taylor.

On 85 minutes, Renton’s shot hit Scott Mclean’s hand and Taylor blocked Mullen’s penalty, but the defender followed up to blast home.

Elgin came close on 13 minutes when Shane Sutherland ran clear, but Willie Muir saved his effort.

Elgin keeper Thomas Mchale did well to touch a fizzing free-kick from David Galt past the post on 22 minutes.

The Moray Men were denied early in the second half with Muir saving from Kane Hester.

Mchale kept the scoresheet blank on 67 minutes with a fantastic tip over from a looping header from Salim Kouider-aissa.
