Morelos set for 10,000-mile trip for charity
Alfredo Morelos will play in a friendly match for his own charity foundation just a day after the Old Firm clash later this month.
The Rangers striker announced during the week that he had set up the Alfredo Morelos Foundation to help deprived children in his homeland of Colombia.
And he’s organised a friendly match on December 30, billed as Alfredo Morelos & Friends versus Colombia’s Soccer Stars, in Cerete in the South American country – a 10,000-mile round trip from Glasgow.
Morelos should be playing for Rangers the previous day at Celtic Park for the second Old Firm Premiership showdown of the season, before quickly jetting off to Colombia to appear in his own match.
The fund-raiser will feature Colombian stars, including Zenit St Petersburg’s former Spurs midfielder, Wilmar Barrios, and internationalists Roger Martinez and Wilson Morelo.
Morelos said: “We seek to help the most-needy children and adolescents to fulfil their dreams.
“Activities like sport, culture and art will also be used to bring some light into the children’s lives.”
