MSP: Johnson bridge is fantasy
Labour has accused Boris Johnson of playing “fantasy politics” over a proposed £20 billion bridge between Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Scottish transport spokesman Colin Smyth has written to the Prime Minister asking him to include improvements to road and rail links around Cairnryan ferry port in a feasibility study.
Mr Smyth said:
“Talk of a bridge between Portpatrick and Larne is a game of fantasy politics and an attempt to distract attention from the reality that links between Scotland and Northern Ireland face barriers as a result of Brexit, not least extra checks required when goods are transported.”
Downing Street said the PM believed the bridge “would have some merit”.
