National eel summit plan
Scotland’s first ever eel summit will be held in a bid to help conserve and understand the nation’s “forgotten fish”.
Specialists from all over the world will gather at Napier University in Edinburgh on April 17 for the Scottish Eel Conference.
The summit is designed to help save the critically endangered European eel.
The species has seen numbers decline by 95% across the continent in the past 30 years due to poaching and overfishing to supply markets in Asia.
