Earth can Scorch his way home

- By reg Moore SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

Dan Skelton looks to have found a good opportunity for Scorched Earth in today’s twomile handicap hurdle at Market Rasen.

As a four- year- old he gets a 10lb allowance from the older animals, a huge help in the current strength-sapping conditions.

Capable of running to around 80 on the flat for Ger Lyons, he started his jumping career with a juvenile success at Catterick.

But his fourth to Mister Coffee at Newbury last time makes his racing weight of 10st 9lb look capable of being exploited.

Kilconny Bridge has won a point- to- point, a bumper and a maiden hurdle. A nice haul from just four visits to the races.

In the two-and-a-halfmile handicap hurdle for mares, in- form trainer Anthony Ho n e y b a l l will be expecting improvement from the six-year-old.

She will get the trip, as her last- time- out win at Exeter was over two-andahalf furlongs further. She has a sound chance.

Night Edition should be at the centre of any multiple bets, after a second in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham.

He was beaten only a length by Galahad Quest last month. His subsequent rating of 133 should be a gift in the opener.
