HOW THEY PLAYED

FORMATION 4-3-3

- By Danny Stewart

ALLAN MCGREGOR (7 OUT OF 10)

Given the shout over Jon Mclaughlin, the veteran must have been surprised to have next to nothing to do.

JAMES TAVERNIER (8)

Produced a fantastic set-piece delivery for Goldson’s goal and won his battles throughout.

CONNOR GOLDSON (9)

What a performance! Produced a terrific header for his first goal and some real striking skills for his second. Disciplined in his defensive work too. FILIP HELANDER (8)

Picked over Leon Balogun, the Swede set the tone early on with a flying block on Elyounoussi.

BORNA BARISIC (8)

Given great support from Kamara, the classy Croatian was one of Rangers’ top performers.

SCOTT ARFIELD (8)

Got through a power of running with his caution for a foul on Patryk Klimala when his side had been caught out of position, typifying his unselfishness.

(JOE ARIBO, 90, 4) STEVEN DAVIS (7)

Rangers played some lovely slick stuff in the middle of the park and invariably Davis was at the centre of it.

GLEN KAMARA (9)

Quietly impressive with his work shutting down Frimpong.

BRANDON BARKER (6)

Brought in ahead of more technical players such as Ianis Hagi for his pace. But his was one of the less eye-catching contributions. (RYAN

JACK, 62, 7) RYAN KENT (8)

Lured Ajer into the foul, from which Goldson got his headed goal, and drifted in from either flank with ease.

ALFREDO MORELOS (7)

Had not scored in any of his previous 12 appearances against Celtic. Did not come close here but contributed through his work rate.( CEDRIC ITTEN, 86, 4)

UNUSED SUBS – MCLAUGHLIN, BASSEY, BALOGUN, JONES, HAGI, DEFOE
