WARRIORS’ GOODWORK UNDONE AS OSPREYS BATTLE BACK

- By David Kelso sport@sundaypost.com

Glasgow suffered a second-half fade-out as Ospreys battled back to grab the glory at the Liberty Stadium.

Danny Wilson’s men were in charge before the break, but the Welshmen clicked into gear when it mattered.

Warriors got off to a dream start by snatching a try after just three minutes.

Nick Grigg was halted short of the line – but Huw Jones was in the perfect position to finish in clinical fashion.

The hosts quickly repaired some of the damage with a penalty from Stephen Myler.

However, Glasgow returned to attacking mode to add to their tally.

New boy Hamish Bain won a lineout and was driven forward – and it was hooker George Turner who wheeled across in the wake of a well-controlled maul.

Pete Horne added the extras. Warriors then had to show their defensive resilience as the Swansea men launched a series of raids in the build up to the interval.

But they were powerless to stop scrum half Reuben Morgan-williams when he sniped over under the posts – giving Myler an easy kick.

And the stand off struck again immediately after the restart to edge Ospreys in front for the first time – only to see Horne reply in identical fashion.

The home troops stepped up the pace and created their second touchdown in the 55th minute.

Kieran Williams was at the end of a pack drive, with Myler finding the target from a wide angle.

Myler was back in the spotlight with another penalty to leave Glasgow with it all to do.

There was more frustration as sub Grant Stewart muscled over – but it was chalked off by the video ref.

Coach Wilson said: “It was frustrating after all the good work we did in the first half.”
