DARVEL sit top of the new-look West of Scotland Premier Division – without big guns such as Auchinleck Talbot, Pollok and Glenafton – after a 3-0 win over KIRKINTILLOCH ROB ROY. Ross Caldwell opened the scoring in the first half, with goals from Jordan Kirkpatrick and Allan Mackenzie wrapping up all three points in the second half.

TROON also kicked off the new campaign with a 3-0 win as they swept aside BONNYTON THISTLE. Ross Barbour grabbed the opener for the Seasiders before Dean Fulton and Josh Black added second-half strikes.

HURLFORD fought from two goals down to earn a last-gasp 2-2 draw with BLANTYRE VICS. Sam Mackenzie put Vics ahead in the first half, before Gavin Millar doubled their lead. With five minutes remaining, Paul Mckenzie pulled a goal back, with Mick Wardrope earning a late point for Hurlford in injury time.

Nicky Little’s goal marked CLYDEBANK’S return to the senior ranks with a 1-0 win away to 10-man Largs Thistle. The hosts had defender Laurie Mcmaster dismissed with a straight red card early in the first half, before Little went on to have a spot-kick saved by Jamie Mcgowan. However, the striker made amends in the second half.

BENBURB’S Daniel Mckay missed a firsthalf penalty against CUMBERNAULD at New Tinto Park, with Stefan Law netting to give the visitors the lead at the break. Kieran O’hear equalised, but goals from Tom Neil and Scott Thomson saw Cumbernauld triumph.

BEITH and ROSSVALE shared a point apiece in a 1-1 draw, with James Finlay opening the scoring for Rossvale after 57 minutes. Despite Beith going down to 10 men with less than 10 minutes remaining when defender Connor Mcglinchey was sent off, Kevin Watt headed in late on to grab a point.
