ANNAN ATH 1 STRANRAER 1 All square but match is soured by a bad tackle

-

Annan failed to take advantage of the Blues playing an hour with 10 men after Grant Gallagher was red-carded.

Andy Stirling saw his sixth-minute shot stopped and, soon after at the other end, Matthew Douglas had a header saved by keeper Greg Fleming.

The visitors’ Grant Gallagher was redcarded after 28 minutes for a challenge on Jack Pardue, with the game being held up for a while as the home player was stretchered off.

However, 10 minutes later, they took the lead when Andy Stirling smacked in a shot from the edge of the box.

Just before the interval, Owen Moxon fired over from 20 yards, then hit an 18-yarder into the top corner to equalise.

Annan’s Moxon, Nathan Flanagan and Anderson all had chances and, late on, Anderson’s shot was stopped on the line.

STIRLING ALBION 2

The visitors were the first to have an attempt on target in the 18th minute and led when David Wilson curled a free-kick from the edge of the box into the net.

Home keeper Graeme Smith was to suffer more misfortune just before the end of the half when he had to limp off the pitch after a collision.

Stenny equalised in the 75th minute when Botti Biabi converted after a goalmouth scramble, and the hosts then took the lead in the 83rd minute when Greg Spence scored from the penalty spot after David Hopkirk was fouled.

Stirling fought back and equalised through a powerful drive from 12 yards by Jack Leitch with a minute remaining.

QUEEN’S PK 2 ALBION ROV 0

The opener came on five minutes when Canadian striker Will Baynham rose high to meet a deep Tommy Robson cross and send a header home from six.

It was 2-0 seven minutes later when David Galt hit the bye-line before crossing for Baynham to sidefoot in.

Baynham almost grabbed a hat-trick before 20 minutes had been played, however his rebound after a Galt shot had been pushed away by Ryan Goodfellow slipped wide.

On 50 minutes, Finn Ecrepont denied Queen’s a third when he raced back to kick Galt’s chipped effort clear, with Goodfellow denying Bob Mchugh shortly after with a fine stop.

The Coatbridge side’s sub Joseph Moore missed a great chance in the final minute when he sent a shot over the bar.

ELGIN CITY 3 BRECHIN CITY 0

The north side drew first blood on 17 minutes when good work on the left by Conor O’keefe created an opening for Brian Cameron to steer high into the net.

It was the second half before the home team turned their superiority into further reward, with Kane Hester twice scoring.

He punished slack defending on the hour to fire home a left-foot effort and, five minutes later, latched on to Smart Osadolor’s through ball to make it 3-0.

In between the Hester double, Osadolor fluffed a tap-in chance, while Hester was denied his hat-trick by a superb Lewis Mcminn save.

EDINBURGH CITY 0 COWDENBEATH 1

Early on, visiting keeper Mac Whyte saving superbly from Andy Black’s low shot.

They were severely hampered in the 33rd minute when striker David Cox was shown a straight red card after taking a swipe at City skipper Craig Thomson.

Whyte was again called into action, this time producing an outstanding save to deny Raffael De Vita.

Liam Henderson and Josh Campbell both came close for Edinburgh in the second half, but it was 10-man Cowdenbeath who took the points when Brad Smith fired past Calum Antell on 78 minutes.
