With the pandemic altering the lives of so many, grief has been a prevalent theme of 2020, yet it’s a topic that remains incredibly difficult to talk about.

New podcast, Good Mourning, is hoping to change that, by providing a platform to discuss what loss is really like.

Talking about “modern mourning” are co-hosts, Sally Douglas and Imogen Carn, who both lost their mothers within the last year.

Sally’s mum passed away due to a sudden seizure in November 2019, and Imogen, from Australia, heartbreakingly lost her mother in February.

Launched on what would have been Sally’s mum’s 65th birthday, Good Mourning was born out of Sally and Imogen’s shared desire to modernise the conversation around an often taboo topic, and aims to provide comfort for others who have experienced loss.

“After Imogen and I lost our mums unexpectedly, we both looked for resources and support groups, but really struggled to find anything that we could relate to,” said Sally.“we felt there wasn’t a platform that discussed grief openly, and that it was difficult to talk to peers who hadn’t experienced a big loss. So we decided to start Good Mourning, to help to encourage an honest conversation around bereavement.

“There are so many people all over the world who are having it tough right now, with the pandemic altering the lives of so many. Losing a loved one can be incredibly lonely, and by sharing our own personal stories and the stories of others, we hope to shine a spotlight on loss, and help others feel less alone.”

The podcast series has launched with a handful of episodes so far, each featuring lively conversations with a host of interesting guests from all over the world, who will share how grief has shaped their lives.
